WWE 2K16: Will it Meet Our Expectations?

WWE 2K15 came with heavy expectations. Whenever there is a move to a different generation, there is an expectation to showcase an improvement in graphics and gameplay with new features, thus WWE 2K14 was a truly excellent title. It boasted the best wrestling roster in years and ’30 Years of WrestleMania’ was very impressive. When the benchmarks are raised so high, it sometimes gets difficult to top every time.

That was the ultimate problem with WWE 2K15. While it was a visual spectacle, it was loaded with issues related to the gameplay and features. There were easily around $30 or more downloadable content (DLC) that should have been the game's part from the beginning. Those who waited and bought the limited-time digital-only ‘WrestleMania Bundle’ from the PlayStation Store and Xbox Games Store, were lucky to get complete DLC and the game together for $60.
The popular and hotly-anticipated ‘Path of the Warrior’ featuring the career of Ultimate Warrior's founding father was half-baked. There were only eight matches, in which two were finished in a blink. Sid Justice was supposedly included in the showcase as a playable manager, but gamers were unable to access his character outside of the 'Path of the Warrior' showcase mode. This turned off a lot of fans.
Cutscenes and attires were very good, but Hulk Hogan’s model was the current one with his 80s attire. A great effort in principle, but the execution left one wanting more and much better.
In terms of gameplay, the new back and forth chain grappling was so annoying and cumbersome, that it was better to switch it off. The introduction of stamina meters provided some intense match moments. However, it did not make up for the difficult reversals or submission button mashing. Also, kicking out of a pin required a lot of practice.
The less said about the Creation Suite, the better. There was neither create-a-arena or create-a-finisher nor create divas option. The only enjoyable mode was the Showcase mode, that was on disc as well as the downloadable ones. The game received mixed to average reviews from several critics, which showed clearly that something wasn’t right with the game. While WWE 2K14 was perfect with a terrific roster and had accessible gameplay with a lot of fun, all the Creation Suite modes were missing from the latest entry.
2K Sports needs to put out a wrestling game that is as good as WWE 2K14 to make the fans happy. The Showcase mode was a great idea that can be further improved upon in WWE 2K16. The pin system, reversals and chain grappling have to be reworked also to improve the gameplay.
Its time to have a roster complete with not only legends and current superstars, but also downloadable content that gives a complete retail version even when it is not purchased. Nevertheless, the Creation Suite's missing features need to return as well.
If 2K Sports fails to address the issues, then gamers are better off playing WWE 2K14 and the Showcase modes in WWE 2K15.

WWE 2K16:  Legends Who Could Be The Flagship Star

.

- Owen Hart

his May would have seen the legendary Owen Hart’s fiftieth birthday. The Hitman’s younger brother was one of the most popular wrestlers in the WWF, with fans and backstage with the boys, before his untimely and tragic death in an horrific accident at the Over The Edge pay-per-view in 1999.
Ever since then, the WWF/E have been caught up in red tape and legal wrangling over the incident. Although the lawsuit filed by Hart’s grieving widow was settled fairly swiftly, there’s a lot of bad blood in that open wound and many still blame the company for persuading him to take part in the stunt that cost him his life, as well as for deciding that the show had to continue that night after Hart’s death.
Regardless, Owen Hart is one of the few revered WWF performers of that era not to receive a Hall Of Fame nod. Let’s not forget that they had great things planned for him: the nickname ‘The Game’ was originally planned for Owen, Triple H taking it on in tribute to his colleague after he passed away.
The time is long past due for that to take place, and a Hart family feature on WWE 2K16 would be a perfect preface to that induction. Imagine being able to pre-order the game and unlock both classic Owen Hart and the Blue Blazer, his superhero alter ego… of course, they’d have to make sure to have him enter from the stage, just as a matter of good taste.

                        WWE 2K16 NEWS

Excitement heightens as brand new features are revealed for WWE 2K16. The upcoming game is reportedly to include a new body system, different types of weapons, stamina system, increased CAW slots, and it could even come to many different platforms.
The most exciting new feature that will reportedly be in WWE 2K16 is the new body system that allows players to target a certain limb and the hit character would react in a way they would in real life. For example, if a player targets the head of a character and hits it with a weapon, the character would hold his head and portray pain rather than feeling nothing or reacting randomly.
Different types of weapons can be used in WWE 2K16. Players can use Kendo sticks, steel chairs, ladders, tables, baseball bats, sledge hammers, and more, with each weapon having a new weapon animation. Developer 2K Games have also asked for the help of several stars to be part of the motion capture to recreate the moves and mannerisms of some WWE Superstars. Stars like Chase Stevens, Cesaro, Damien Sandow, and even TNA Star Low Ki and Kaval have done the motion capture for WWE 2K16.
There might also be a Choke Slam animation in the stamina system of the upcoming game. A full stamina bar portrays the standard animation of the character; Choke Slam shows early signs of fatigue; and a near empty bar will have the character barely able to hit the manoeuvre.
2K Games is also reportedly planning to increase the CAW or create-a-wrestler slots. The game went from 100 CAW slots to only 25 slots in the recent WWE 2K15. "We'll do everything we can to expand in WWE 2K16. We have a great track record of doing what we can with CAW slots," 2K tweeted. The reduced CAW slots in WWE 2K15 was because the company was not able to efficiently compress the data, as 2K explained.
2K Games' WWE Brand Marketing director Bryce Yang revealed that WWE 2K16 will be coming to many different platforms. It would most likely be available for       PC, PS3, Xbox 360, Wii U, and some rumours even say it would be available for tablets.

WWE 2K16 is yet to feature another thrilling game as WWE Announcer Jerry "the King" Lawler announced in Memphis Cerrito Live Radio Show that their renowned star, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, will be part of the new "attitude-era" themed game.
What's additionally exciting is that Lawler also confirmed involvement in the 2K recording booth to provide commentary, along with the legendary Jim Ross. He said in WhatCulture, "We're already working on that. A lot of people ask about my old broadcast partner. They're having in this year's game, a big Stone Cold Steve Austin Attitude Era section and they have me and J.R. back together again in the studio doing voice-overs for that." The duo is said to be the best, so fans are indeed in for a treat.
Fans can also expect other WWE Superstars in 2K16, including Sasha Banks and Rosa Mendes, who have both confirmed that they will be part of the new game. Another fan favorite, Zack Ryder has confirmed that he has been tapped by the Games team.
The "attitude-era" was what made Stone Cold known famous, so it can be anticipated that the new game will relieve a lot of the best moments of Steve Austin. The same theme has been featured in WWE 13, with Stone Cold as one of the playable characters, but the game also included Undertaker, The Rock, and Shawn Michaels as part of the roster. This time however, International Business Times said that it may focus only on Stone Cold and his rivals.
WWE 2K16 will be available on October this year for Playstation 4, Playstation 3, Xbox One, and Xbox 360. WWE or World Wrestling Entertainment, Inc, an entertainment company featuring professional wrestlers, started releasing games from an arcade type, Tag Team in 1983, evolved to other NES, SNES, Gameboy, and arcade games over the years and eventually started playing in WWE storylines in Playstation 1, WWE Smackdown, in year 2000.

WWE 2K16’s roster has been leaked on wikipedia. However, it looks unlikely to be the actual roster. Names like Kurt Angle are featured as a WWE Legend, which would be a surprising inclusion given his major active role in TNA Impact Wrestling. The rest of the list is reasonably plausible, albeit with a few other unlikely names.

The list in full is can be read here. The WWE names are Bret Hart, British Bulldog, Brock Lesnar, Doink the Clown, The Great Khali, Goldberg, John Cena, Sasha Banks, Seth Rollins, Sting, Sheamus, Steve Austin, Roman Reigns, Rosa Mendes, Rusev, Ultimate Warrior and Zack Ryder.
In addition, there will apparently be an ECW roster. That will include Rhyno, Sabu and Sandman.
There’s then a WWE Legends section, with Kurt Angle, Mr Perfect and Sid.

It is doubtful that this is the real roster. For one, why would Bret Hart and British Bulldog be listed in
the WWE stars and not the WWE Legends?

There’s also a wide range of names missing, particularly in relation to the divas.

The real list will come out around the time of SummerSlam, with 2K expected to announce it in the same way they did last year at a roster reveal. Take this leaked list with a pinch of salt for now.
